Balochistan Minister for Irrigation and Power, Sardar Mohammad Aslam Bijinjo conformed the death toll of Sorrange coalmine blast as 45. Talking on the floor of the house during the assembly session, Deputy Speaker Matiullah Agha in the chair on Monday, provincial minister said that reports have suggested that 45 people have been killed in the coalmine blast.
It may be mentioned here that at least 52 coalminers were trapped in the 1200 meter deep PMDC's coalmine on late Saturday night when methane gas sparked explosion in the mine, with bleak chances of survival of all labourers working inside it. Rescue teams have retrieved 35 dead bodies so far.
The minister expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of human lives and lamented that sheer negligence led to the colossal human loss. He, quoting some sources in Sorrange confirmed that 45 coalminers are dead and remaining people have very rare chances of survival.
