The Karachi Port handled 87,276 tonnes of cargo including 46,751 tonnes of import cargo, 40,525 tonnes of export cargo, 5,318 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours endeed at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 46,751 tonnes comprised of 21,006 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,638 tonnes of general cargo; 1,888 tonnes of rock phosphate and 18,219 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 40,525 tonnes comprised of 16,101 tonnes of containerised cargo; 510 tonnes of general cargo; 21,884 tonnes of bulk cargo: 11,423 tonnes of wheat; 4,123 tonnes of rice; 5,072 tonnes of coal; 1,266 tonnes of cement and 2,030 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Six ships namely Hyundai Tacoma, Stena Paris, Asashio Maru, Ratu Tembaga, Bunga Raya Dua and Alliance Charleston with containers, oil tankers, general cargo, containers and vehicles respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Five vessels viz Loi Hope, APL Torquoise, Alliance Charleston, Marianne Danica and Bux Melody carrying oil tankers, containers, car carrier, general cargo and containers respectively are currently at the berths. Four ships namely YM Europe, Marianne Danica, Glory River and Bux Melody carrying cement, general cargo, cement and containers respectively expected to sail on Wednesday.
Three vessels viz Usma, Cap Gabriel and Glory carrying mogas and containers respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while three vessels viz Ital Oceano, Al-Shuwaikh and Islamabad with containers, cattles and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 60,692 tonnes includes 38,295 tonnes of furnace oil; 6,329 tonnes of edible oil; 179 tonnes of chemicals; 3,665 tonnes of sugar and 12,225 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 21,048 tonnes includes 1,882 tonnes of wheat; 6,591 tonnes of rice; 4,295 tonnes of cement and 8,280 tonnes of containerised cargo.
A wheat ship namely MV Suchada Naree sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while a chemical ship namely MT Chemtrans Mabuhay and an edible oil ship namely MT Chemroad Mega are expected to sail on Wednesday afternoon. A total number of ten vessels viz CV Ibn Asakir, CV Nedlloyd Hudson, Kimon-A, MT Alexi-1, MV Island Star, MV Suchada Naree, MV Trans Ocean, MT Chemtrans Mabuhay, Akaki and Chemroad Mega are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement, wheat, sugar, chemicals, furnace oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Ten ships namely Jang San, STX Rose, Jun Hai-2, Malpensa, Margirit Rickmers, Sea Hope, Al-Salam-II, Sea Venus, CGM Quartz and Ikaruga carrying rice, project cargo, dredging, edible oil, containers, fuel oil, diesel oil, canola seeds and containers respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three container vessels viz CV CGM Quartz, CV Margirit Rickmers and CV Ikaruga with containers, MV Sea Venus carrying canola seeds and MV Malpensa carrying edible oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, FAP Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal and respectively on Wednesday.
