3M Window film is a part of its Safety products portfolio, Window film is a special type of material that is created with polyester substrate. One side of the window film contains an adhesive layer in order to stick to a window. This side is covered with a protective release liner that is removed when the window film is applied to the interior side of a window.
3M invented these films back in 1966 and continues to provide the broadest range of technologies in the market. The various types of window films include Sun control window films - 3M Scotchtint, Safety & Security window films - 3M Scotchshield and Decorative and Privacy films - 3M Fasara Architects and designers today are using glazing systems in buildings and vehicles as major part of the construction, and window films can enhance these systems to provide cost effective solutions for energy savings all year-round (solar gain, UV protection), provide more safety / security (protection in the event of accident, vandalism, explosion or glass failure) and enhance privacy.
Glass is a versatile material. It is used to allow light and warmth to brighten our buildings and improve the Aesthetics. It is even used as part of the structural strength of the buildings. However, sometimes it can be a hazard when broken or is the weak point for deliberate attack. Fortunately quality safety film provides an easy method of modifying plain glass for resistance to accidental impact. High performance security film can improve resistance to high performance explosive, bullet or repeated impact attacks.
Safety window film acts as an invisible shield over the window. As such, it does not necessarily have a tint. Instead, this window film holds all of the pieces of a window together if the window is broken and prevents shards from spraying onto the floor or otherwise injuring occupants. This is beneficial in severe weather and can also act as a deterrent against crime.
3M provides a warranty for 10 years, which in most cases covers film, removal and replacement labour, provides peace of mind and is second to none in the industry. 3M window films can also be applied on cars and the customers can benefit from their various features ranging from, controlling heat coming in from the windows in summer, blocking UV rays up to 99.9 % and more importantly protecting the glass from flying in case of forced impact, blasts or other terrorist activities.
