More that 24 to 30 exhibitors are expected to participate in the 'international apparel sourcing show' scheduled to be held in New York from July 19 to 20, 2011 Manager Sales, International Apparel Sourcing Show, David Pennes and Chief Executive Officer Messe Frankfurt Pakistan, Hadi Salahuddin informed newsmen, here on Thursday, that the international apparel show is the only event on the east coast focused on sourcing finished apparel and contract manufacturing.
In addition, the event provides opportunity for American companies to develop private label programme - currently a major part of world's retail assortment strategy- and access original design manufacturing programmes. Replying a question, they said the price and quality-based Pakistani products are quite competitive in the international market. Labour charges in Bangladesh and China registered significant increase and made their product costly. Replying another question, they said that there will be no problem for the intending participant in acquiring visa and carrying goods for the event. The company will help them and provide assistance in getting visa, they added.
David Pennes, on the occasion, recalled that last year, 20 to 25 exhibitors participated from Pakistan in the show and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and US Department of Trade featured two pavilions hosting 21 Pakistani exhibitors. He added that this year, TDAP has given a good response and likely to have Pakistan pavilion at the show. Giving details of the event last year, they said it alone drew 108 exhibitors from eight countries as well as more than 1,000 attendees. The triple show event as a whole drew 457 exhibitors and more than 5,000 attendees.
