The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has constituted a high level committee to probe and investigate matters relating to transit cargo. According to a notification issued here on Tuesday, the competent authority has constituted a committee comprising four senior tax officials.
The committee would be headed by Hafiz Muhammad Anees, Member (Taxpayers Audit) FBR and members would include Abdul Rashid Sheikh, Project Director, Pakistan Customs Computerised System (PACCS), Karachi and Saeed Akram, Secretary (Taxpayers Audit) FBR. Muhammad Irfan Wahid, Second Secretary Law and Procedure FBR would work as Secretary to the Committee.
The committee shall conduct inquiries/investigations in order to determine the criminal prosecutions/departmental action (where applicable or warranted) and shall proposed remedial measures. The committee may co-opt any officer to assist it, with the prior approval of the Chairman, FBR. The committee shall submit its findings and proposals/recommendations at the earliest but not later than eight weeks from the date of issuance of this letter.All employees of FBR shall render full assistance and cooperation to the committee, FBR notification added.
