Power situation improved on Monday with temperate temperature, convincing the consumers to reduce usage of electric heaters. Power generation stood at 10487MW against a demand of 12102MW, reducing the gap between demand and supply to 1615MW. Supply to the KESC also reduced to 650MW. Meanwhile, power generation through hydel was recorded at 3194MW, followed by 2118MW though thermal, 5113MW through IPPs and 62MW through RPPs.
It may be noted that the Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) authorities are hoping that there would be improvement in power generation in the near future, particularly after improvement in gas supply to thermal units and end of canal desilting campaign. However, one thing is clear that there was no immediate end to loadshedding due to the fact that demand for power would shoot up just as the temperature rises in a couple of months.
