Youth Senate of Pakistan (YSP) has proposed the government to initiate national students discount card to solve students transportation problem. President, YSP Hanan Ali Abbasi told APP here on Sunday that the card will give a considerable discount on public transport (50% discount) and this will help increase bus usage.
He said that the transportation system of the country has never been on an accommodative move towards students. "Students have to travel to reach their destination for educating themselves," he said. He said that transporters are reluctant to board students so they rarely stop at the major stops, as they are well aware of the streaming mob of these future makers to be present there and even everywhere alongside the road.
Hanan said the people, who send there children to the popular institutions of the country, are found complaining about the fatigue and charges they bear.
He said the government should initiate the scheme, then it should be launched in other provinces making the fares affordable for the students. He said the government should held negotiation with transporters to implement the Student Discount Card scheme.
Hanan said students should have a Discount card, verified, from their institutions and related government body, adding that the transparency system must be highly streamlined to screen fake card holders.
"In such a situation a deliberate, governmental and non-government, joint ventured policy is needed to be introduced to conserve the interests of our breeding that has still to work a long way in the struggle to make the country excellent, in all respects," he conclude.
