Five people, including two children, died in three separate attacks in Afghanistan on Saturday, officials said. The two children were killed when a rocket hit their home in the southern province of Ghazni, the interior ministry said in a statement. Six family members were wounded.
A roadside bomb went off in eastern Afghanistan killing two members of the Nato-led International Assistance Security Forces (ISAF), the military alliance said in a statement. Meanwhile, a policeman was killed and nine others wounded when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in the southern province of Helmand.
"The blast took place in Nahr-e-Saraj district, where a joint operation of Afghan and Nato-led forces is going on," provincial government spokesman Daud Ahmadi said. Fighting has escalated in Afghanistan as US forces push against militants in the southern regions, mainly Helmand and Kandahar.
