Provincial ministers of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl-ur-Rehman (JUI-F) and Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) MPA clashed in Balochistan Assembly Saturday, reminding of a similar incident recently in Punjab Assembly. PML-Q MPA, Shaikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhel was speaking on point of order in the house.
He said that commissioner Zhob has told him if he would not accept whatever Senior Minister JUI-F, Maulana Abdul Wasay has said, he would 'beat him with shoes'. At this, provincial minister JUI, Maulvi Muhammad Sarwar got infuriated and hurled bad words at Jaffar Mandokhel. Speaker Aslam Bhotani and provincial minister Sadiq Umrani asked the minister to sit but he refused and said that unless Jaffar Mandokhel takes his seat, he would not sit. Meanwhile, provincial minister of JUI Ainullah Shams also started verbal abuse.
JUI ministers also tried to attack Jaffar Mandokhel several times and resultantly uproar prevailed in the house, spoiling Balochistan's traditions. Situation in the house became tense and speaker adjourned the house for 15 minutes. During this period, workers of JUI and PML clashed in the gallery and beat each other with fists and kicks. They also verbally abused each other. After 15 minutes, the house reassembled but quorum remained incomplete at which the speaker adjourned the house till January 25.
Later, a meeting was held between Jaffar Mandokhel, Maulvi Sarwar, Maulana Ainuddin Shams in the presence of provincial ministers Mrs Nasreen Khetran, Ms Rahila Durrani, Sadiq Umrnai, Zahoor Buledi, and others. They consoled Jaffrar Mandokhel and JUI ministers and brought about a patch up. Talking to the newsmen, Speaker Aslam Bhotani said a misunderstanding had developed among the members in the house and he adjourned it for some minutes. He said the misunderstanding among the members was resolved through the efforts of all parliamentary parties. Bhotani said the assembly will be run according to the traditions and they would resolve differences sincerely.
