The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought explanation from sessions judge Faisalabad Tahir Pervez for writing scandalous and shameful remarks about a woman and her daughters in a report. The court observed that language used by the sessions judge was abusive and scandalous and it seemed he did not apply his judicial mind.
The court directed the sessions judge to submit a detailed reply within 15 days, as to how and from where he gathered the information about petitioner and her daughters and asked him why LHC's observations may not be made part of his service book.
The court passed this order while hearing a petition of Nasreen Iqbal, hailing from Samandari, Faisalabad, seeking registration of case against her relatives who had kidnapped her son and hurling life threats after she got married against the will of her parents. She along with her daughters shifted to Lahore to save her life.
During the proceeding, the LHC had ordered sessions judge Faisalabad to hold an inquiry into the matter. He had submitted a report in LHC, containing objectionable remarks against the lady and her daughter. Advocate General Punjab (AGP) Khawaja Haris appeared on court's notice and undertook to look into the matter personally and also assured to provide protection to the lady and her family.
AGP also undertook to depute a law officer to get the issue resolved. Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Justice Iftikhar Muhammad had also taken suo motu notice of the issue and got registered two cases against the lady's relatives. Later her son was kidnapped and she moved a petition in sessions court Faisalabad but her application was dismissed. Now she has challenged sessions court order in LHC.
