The Senate Standing Committee on Rules of Procedures and Privileges on Friday directed the Ministry of Minorities Affairs to immediately suspend the Deputy Administrator of Evacuee Trust Property (ETP), Peshawar for his alleged misbehaviour with a senator.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the statement of the administrator, the Senate body also directed the ministry to hold an inquiry into the matter and submit its report before the committee by February 15. Senator Seemen Siddiqui had moved a privilege motion against the misconduct of the official, which the ETP administrator totally denied saying, "he never misbehaved with the honourable Senator."
The meeting chaired by Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi was attended by Senators, Salahuddin Dogar, Syeda Sughra Imam, Dr Muhammad Ismail Buledi, Professor Sajid Mir, Mrs Seeme Siddiqui, Muhammad Azam Khan Swati, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri, Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan, Maulana Abdur Rashid and Sabina Rouf besides senior officials of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Evacuee Trust Property, Peshawar and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
The committee also discussed the privilege motion moved by Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Swati and some other senators of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) on a statement of former Minister for Human Rights Ansar Burni against the party chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman. The Senate body took strong notice of absence of Ansar Burney from the meeting.
