Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 95,241 tonnes of cargo including 57,842 tonnes of import cargo, 37,399 tonnes of export cargo, 3,583 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 57,842 tonnes comprised of 3,592 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,250 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,500 tonnes of coal; 6,750 tonnes of rock phosphate and 46,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 37,399 tonnes comprised of 17,438 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of general cargo; 7,761 tonnes of bulk cargo: 310 tonnes of wheat; 2,886 tonnes of cement; 4,565 tonnes of talcum powder and 12,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Three ships namely Abtin-1, Concord and Saigon Express with containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Seven vessels viz MT Karachi, Concord, Vinashin Melody, Lady Jasmine, Bunga Teratai, Go Trader and Admire Coral carrying oil tankers, containers, bulk cargo and general cargo respectively are currently at the berths. Six ships namely MT Karachi, BSLE Princess, Bunga Teratai, Mare Doro, Admire Coral and Kota Akbar carrying oil tankers, talcum powder, containers, rock phosphate and general cargo respectively expected to sail on Friday, while two ships namely New Legend Sun and TS Jakarta with cement and crude oil respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
Seven vessels viz Sorrelle, Lucky Lady, Khorfakkan, TS Jakarta, OOCL Dalian, Hanjin Paris and APL Sharjah carrying diesel oil, base oil, crude oil and containers respectively due to arrive on Friday, while five vessels viz Chem Hydra, MSC Oslo, Thana Bhum, MOL Seabreeze and Bunga Pelangi Dua with palm oil and containers respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIMThe Port Qasim handled 32,895 tonnes of cargo includes 20,098 tonnes of import cargo and 12,797 tonnes of export cargo, 989 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours. The total import cargo of 20,098 tonnes includes 10,350 tonnes of palm oil; 4,318 tonnes of sugar and 5,430 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 12,797 tonnes includes 1,610 tonnes of wheat; 3,663 tonnes of cement and 7,524 tonnes of containerised cargo. A container ship namely CV NYK Kai sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while another ship namely CV CMA CGM Massai is expected to sail on Friday afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz CV NYK Kai, CV CMA CGM Massai, MV Leopard-B, MV Rana, MV Yong Phung Ho, MV Rain Bow and MT Sichem Osprey are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, sugar and palm oil respectively during last 24 hours. Eight ships namely Alexi-1, Island Star, Olympic Sponsor, Argent Bloom, Chembulk Singapore, Glory, MSC Sena and MT Quetta carrying cement, crude oil, edible oil, containers and furnace oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage.
A total number of four vessels viz MV Glory, MSC Sena, MT Quetta and Island Star carrying containers, furnace oil and cement respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Friday.
