Iran to end Afghan fuel blockade

Iran has told the Afghan government it will stop blocking thousands of tanker trucks trying to move vehicle and heating fuel into Afghanistan. An Afghan government statement issued Tuesday says that the Iranian ambassador to Afghanistan, Fada Hussain Maliki, has told President Hamid Karzai that the more than 1,000 fuel tankers still stuck at the border will be allowed to enter Afghanistan during the next four days.
Afghan officials say Iran had expressed concern that fuel shipments were supplying Nato forces in Afghanistan, though Afghan and Nato officials deny that. The presidential statement says Iran has asked the Afghan government to confirm the country's fuel needs, and then it will allow that much fuel to move into Afghanistan.
