Singapore-based Indo-Sino Trade Pte Limited has secured a tender to supply 50,000 tonnes of white rice to Bangladesh at $459.22 a tonne, including C&F liner out, a food official said on Monday. The state grains importer issued the tender late last month as part of efforts to ensure food security for the country's more than 150 million people in the wake of rising global food prices.
Indo-Sino was the lowest bidder in the tender that opened on January 10, and the rice is to be shipped in 30 days after signing the deal, which will take place this week.
