Deputy Chief Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmed on Monday moved to Senate on the overall performance of various federal ministries and their attached departments, seeking discussion in the upcoming session of the House in this regard.
Through various adjournment motions, submitted by Professor Khurshid in the Upper House of the Parliament under clause 192 of the rules and procedure of conduct of the Senate, it has been called upon the Chairman Senate to allow discussion over the performance of various federal ministries including Communications, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
He urged the Chairman senate to allow the Upper House to discuss the government policies in the sectors like agriculture, education and health as well as monetary policy. He called for discussion in the House on government's foreign policy particularly the steps taken for repatriation of Dr Afia Siddiqui and explanation of Kashmir policy.
Expressing serious concerns over electricity and gas load shedding, the JI leader also demanded that the House should discuss the performance of Ministry of Water and Power as well as of Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Professor Khurshid said that a debate should also be held in the next session of the Senate regarding performance of Interior Ministry and also the issue of missing persons.
Through resolutions, submitted in the Senate, he also demanded that the House should discuss the issue of human trafficking particularly of the children and women as well as the steps taken so far by the government to check the menace. He further submitted resolution that called for the Upper House's debate on the NGOs run through foreign aids in the country and their agendas.
He also demanded the illegal allotment of houses should be stopped and the House be allowed to discuss the matter. Furthermore, the JI Senator said that the House should also discuss the performance of the federal government attached hospitals across the country.
