Advisor to Prime Minister on Women Development Yasmeen Rehman has urged the US authorities to provide market access to Pakistani women entrepreneurs to help ensure women empowerment besides strengthening economy of Pakistan. She said this while addressing the "Women Entrepreneurs Marble Mosaic Exhibition 2011" here on Friday. US Consul General Cameron Conroy was the chief guest while PML-N senior leader and businessman Mohammad Parvez Malik was special guest.
The exhibition was organised under the aegis of Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC) in collaboration with its partners United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (Unido) and Furniture Pakistan. Speaking on the occasion, Yasmeen Rehman said that the motive behind this exhibition is to highlight the skill development and entrepreneur culture among the Pakistani women.
She said that such events would encourage our talent to bring forward their creative stuff and align their efforts for the economic betterment. She said: "Pakistani people have talent and they just need little bit of development, training and exposure to present their work in global market." She asked the US authorities to provide them support so that they could create their niche.
Expressing grave concern over high rate of unemployment in the country, she said, unemployment is causing a lot of problems including terrorism, which can only be addressed by providing job opportunities to the unemployed. Cameron Conroy applauds the efforts of Government of Pakistan in exhibiting women entrepreneurs work. She added that women empowerment could only be achieved, if women are privileged to play their role in economy. She further said that despite obstacles women are expressing their creativity at large and setting examples.
While talking to Business Recorder, Parvez Malik said, "Pakistani women possess much talent and playing vital role national rebuilding activities." He appreciated efforts aimed at highlighting talent of women; as such activities would help increase exports as well as employment. He added that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is determined to promote industry so as to create more job opportunities.
