Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 102,986 tonnes of cargo including 51,580 tonnes of import cargo, 51,406 tonnes of export cargo, 4,512 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 51,580 tonnes comprised of 10,383 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,748 tonnes of general cargo; 18,425 tonnes of coal and 21,024 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 51,406 tonnes comprised of 22,367 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,060 tonnes of general cargo; 10,979 tonnes of bulk cargo: 4,279 tonnes of cement; 6,700 tonnes of clinker and 17,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Seven ships namely MT Lahore, HMAS Melbourne, MT Karachi, Saeed, Wan Hai-602, Bunga Raya Dua and Hyundai Long Beach with tanker, navy, tanker, bags and containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Four vessels viz Al-Soor-II, APL Syprine, FPMC P Fortune and Marina Bay carrying tanker, containers, naptha and general cargo respectively are currently at the berths. One ship namely Marina Bay carrying general cargo expected to sail on Wednesday, while three ships namely APL Cyprine, Nordic Pia and Al-Soor-II with containers, molasess and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
Four vessels viz Hanjin Berlin, Bavaria Express, MSC Ayala and Da Hua carrying containers and general cargo due to arrive on Wednesday, while four vessels viz Sima Sahba, TS Qingdao, Leopard-B and Pacific Express with containers, cement and steel & general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIMThe Port Qasim handled 57,228 tonnes of cargo includes 39,996 tonnes of import cargo and 17,232 tonnes of export cargo, 1,794 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours. The total import cargo of 39,996 tonnes includes 20,576 tonnes of furnace oil; 8,800 tonnes of palm oil and 10,620 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 17,232 tonnes includes 4,200 tonnes of wheat and 13,032 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two ships namely Hammonia Pomerenia and UASC Dammam sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely Nedlloyd Drake is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of six vessels viz Nedlloyd Drake, UASC Dammam, Hammonia Pomerenia, MV Lagonda, Scotia Spirit and Argent Aster are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Six ships namely Sichem Melbourne, Galaxy, Yon Phung Ho, MSC Jenny, Rafflesia and CGM Wagner carrying chemicals, edible oil, wheat and containers respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of five vessels viz CGM Wagner, MSC Jenny, Rafflesia, Sichem Melbourne and Leopard-B carrying containers, chemicals and cement respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
