The lawyers' on Tuesday boycotted the court partially protesting against demolition of the chambers in Sheikhupura by district administration. The lawyers also held meetings to condemn police torture on lawyers in Sheikhupura. They only dealt with cases of urgent nature.
Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) and the District Bar in their meetings condemned the police action on lawyers in Sheikhupura and demanded of the authorities to get their chambers restored without any delay. The LHCA unanimously carried a resolution against police torture and demanded of the Punjab government to take a prompt action against the responsible persons.
The house also called for immediate withdrawal of cases against the Sheikhupura lawyers and suspension of the District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Sheikupura. The lawyers warned the government of continuous protest if their demands were not met.
