More than 600 industrial units, 100,000 powerlooms remained closed on fifth consecutive day on Tuesday due to six days gas loadshedding in Faisalabad. Around 400,000 workers most of them daily wagers lost their jobs. Scheduled and unscheduled loadshedding of electricity and gas is creating problems for the citizens.
Many CNG stations also remained closed on fifth consecutive day because of extremely low gas pressure. In various parts of the industrial city, around eight to ten hours of loadshedding is being done. Talking to newsmen, Chaudhry Salamat Ali, Chairman, Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PHMEA) North Zone expressed grave concern over the six days gas loadshedding in a week. He said six days a week gas loadshedding is crippling the textile industry on one hand, and creating financial problems by breaking the chain of textile sector, on the other hand, he added.
The chairman PHMEA North Zone said the severe energy crisis is yielding negative impact on the repayments of the loan returns to the banks because machinery of textile sector worth billion of rupees becoming scrap and industrialists were not in position to run their factories due to heavy cost of doing business.
Sheikh Muhammad Saeed, Regional Chairman, All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association, Muhammad Shakeel Ansari, Chairman, Pakistan Sizing Industries, Choudary Abdul Haq, Chairman, Muhammad Akram Grouri, Vice Chairman, All Pakistan Cotton Powerlooms Association and leaders of Anjuman-e-Tajran Faisalabad expressed grave concern over the six days gas loadshedding in a week.
