A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Monday adjourned to January 18, the hearing of bail petition of former president of the Bank of Punjab (BoP) and principal accused in a Rs 9 billion loan scam Hamesh Khan as NAB's counsel sought two weeks time to file reply. The bench headed by Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry adjourning the matter, directed NAB to submit report and para wise comments on next hearing.
Earlier, Hamesh's counsel had contended before a division bench headed by former Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif to transfer the case before bench who heard the petition of co-accused Adil Khan. The then CJ had rejected his plea for transfer of case. The Supreme Court (SC) had also dismissed his request for transfer of his case to another bench of the LHC. Hamesh Khan was accused of sanctioning Rs 9 billion to Harris Steel Mills against rules and regulations.
