Following confessional statement: Qadri sent to jail on judicial remand

Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) on Monday sent Mumtaz Qadri, assassin of former governor Punjab, Salman Taseer to jail on judicial remand after recording his confessional statement. The killer of governor Punjab, Mumtaz Qadri has confessed before a judicial magistrate of committing the crime after attending a religious gathering in Rawalpindi.
It has been said that he told the magistrate that he had decided to kill the governor after attending the religious gathering where the speaker said that Salman Taseer had committed blasphemy. He also confessed that he murdered governor Taseer on his own volition and no another man, party or group was involved in the crime. Accepting the request of capital territory police, the judge sent him to jail on 14 days judicial remand to Adiyala Jail, Rawalpindi.
Qadri in the court of Malik Akram Awan, Special Judge of ATC-I at 10 in the morning without any prescribed schedule requested the court that Qadri may be sent to jail, as police investigations was completed from him. The police also submitted his medical report in the court in which it was revealed that only two minor bruises were present on Qadri. A police official said that Qadri was brought in the court one day prior to the scheduled date to avoid any protest by his supporters. However, some lawyers could still be seen outside the court chanting slogans in favour of Qadri.
