The medical experts have said that the installation of state of the art neuro angiography machine at LGH is a revolutionary step, which has enabled the doctors to treat and repair the veins of the brain without opening the skull. Previously doctors were conducting long operation for cerebral arterio-venous malformations, which took a long time for healing the wound.
While addressing the concluding ceremony of two days training workshop of neuro angiography at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) here on Sunday. During the workshop renowned neurone radiologist from England Dr Peter Keston conducted procedure through neuro angiography machine and demonstrated practical formation for the training of local doctors. Head of Neuro Radiology Department LGH Professor Dr Anjum Habib Vohra, Dr Umair Rasheed, Dr Shehzad Kareem, MS Dr Salahuddin Khan and other doctors from different hospitals including Sheikh Zaid Hospital, Shoukat Khanum Hospital also attended the Workshop.
Principle PGMI/LGH Professor Dr Tariq Salahuddin while addressing the workshop said that on the direction of Chief Minister Punjab, Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif Neuro Angiography machine installed in LGH at a cost of Rs 2 hundred million is the first machine of its kind in the any public sector hospital of the country. He said that three dimensional cerebral angiography done through the machine would enable health professionals to diagnose and treat clots, tumours and hemorrhages with a minimum of radiation exposure, thus improving pre and post operative care.
