KABUL: The death toll from a shrine bombing in Kabul on Tuesday which targeted Ashura gathering has reached 80, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said Sunday.
The attack targeted Shias gathered to mark Ashura, the holiest day in their calendar, raising fears of sectarian violence ahead of the scheduled departure of NATO combat troops in 2014.
"The death toll has reached 80," Karai told an anti-corruption conference in Kabul.
