Federal Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Babar Awan, expressed his hope that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will reconsider its decision of ultimatum to the government. "PML(N) chief Nawaz Sharif will hopefully reconsider the ultimatum," he said while addressing a press conference here at PPP media cell on Friday night.
He said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had in the past also reconsidered its decision of boycott when the PPP was forming the government three years back. "We respected the opinion of Opposition parties in the Centre and will do so on other platforms as well without impeding the democratic process," he pointed out. He said the PPP will remain part of the coalition in Punjab government.
Federal Law Minister said that MQM leadership and Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML- Q), who are politically mature, had once again adopted a policy of reconciliation in the larger interest of democracy. "Today's decisions at Nine-Zero disappointed those who were bent upon negative predictions. I assure them all that the government will complete its tenure," he said.
Babar Awan said that the present government's policy of reconciliation was not a political need but a national agenda and charter to keep the democracy flourish. The reversal of petroleum prices by the government was also part of its policy of reconciliation and consensus, he said and added that the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) never believed to run the country individually but collectively. Babar Awan said that JUI(F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman played a very important role to nurture democracy and will do so in the future as well.
