''Hiding facts about gold reserves'': petition filed against TCC in Supreme Court

A contempt of court petition has been filed in the Supreme Court''s Lahore Registry against Tethyan Copper Company (TCC) for allegedly hiding facts about quantity of gold reserves in Balochistan''s Reko-Diq mines. The petition was filed by President Watan Party, Shaukat Khan and Barrister Zafar Ullah.
They claimed that TCC misinformed the prime minister of Pakistan that whole mining business in the Reko Diq mines was only worth Dollars 50 billion while these reserves of gold and copper are actually worth more than one trillion dollar.
The federal government, ministry of petroleum and natural resources Islamabad, government of Balochistan, governor State Bank of Pakistan, Ministry of Mines Balochistan, and Tethyan Copper Company Pakistan in the petition respondents. The petitioners prayed the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against TCC and blacklist it. They also prayed the court to restrain the company from carrying out any mining business in any part of the country.
