Coffee exports from Honduras jumped 172 percent in December to 404,603 60-kg bags, the national coffee institute said on Monday, on good weather, high international prices and deferred exports from November. Wet weather limited Honduran coffee exports in late 2009, but exporters were able to make the most of high coffee prices in December 2010.
"The weather has been good for the coffee harvest and there haven't been any problems getting to the farms in the mountains," Miguel Pon, the head of Honduras' national exporters association, told Reuters, adding that exports were stimulated by high prices for Arabica coffee in international markets.
Below is a table of coffee exports in 60-kg bags from Honduras during the current cycle, compared with the same month in the previous year's harvest. The export figure for November was revised downwards from last month's data release after exporters decided to hold off shipments until December.
