Nadra gets another contract from Nigeria

National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has obtained another multi-million dollar international contract of System Integration Services and issuance of National Identity document from Nigeria. The Presidency, National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) of Nigeria has reposed confidence in Nadra for System Integration Services and issuance of National Identity document during an agreement signing ceremony between two organisations here on Monday.
Under the agreement, Nadra will help NIMC in completing the back-end of Nigeria Identity Management System, Nadra sources said. They said that the project primarily focuses on an end solution for issuance of National Identity document, which includes Back-end System Integration with Automated Fingerprint Identification System and ID Card Production Facility.
They said that the contract is continuation of a phase-wise delivery for Nigerian National Identity Management System that was awarded to Nadra earlier in 2009. Nadra has successfully delivered the first phase of the project worth $1 million and development work commenced on the second phase, which is scheduled to be completed next year, they added.
Gohar Khan, Chief Project Officer Nadra signed the agreement on behalf of Nadra and Chris Onyemenam, Director General NIMC Nigeria on behalf of his government. Chairman Nadra, Ali Arshad Hakeem said that this is a landmark achievement on the part of Nadra and it will help further strengthen the ties between Pakistan and Nigeria.
"The system has been indigenously developed by Nadra and its delivery will empower the government of Nigeria to issue tamperproof and secure Computerised ID Cards to Nigerian citizens", he said. Nadra's expertise in IT solution has earned international acclaim and international projects were awarded to Nadra including Government of Sudan Civil Registration Project, Government of Kenya Passport Issuing System, Government of Bangladesh High Security Driver's License and Afghan Refugee Registration Project for UNHCR. Nadra is rated among top 50 ID Management companies in the world by ID WORLD Congress, Italy.
