Managing Director of Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal Zamarud Khan has said that a scheme has been launched for the orphans of the country under which every citizen should contribute only 50-paisa daily for the welfare of orphans. He was speaking in 'APNA Pakistan' of Radio Pakistan's FM -93 Channel, which was broadcast live on Sunday.
He said state employees were being motivated to donate Rs 15/= per month from their salaries, which could bring a big change in the lives of orphans and the needy people.
The PBM Managing Director said that Pakistan Bait ul Maal has also launched a sweet home programme, which is currently providing shelter to over 1,600 orphans.
Zamarud Khan said that Pakistan Baitul Maal is also providing necessary financial assistance to the deserving patients besides wheel chairs to the disabled persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Director General of Radio Pakistan Murtaza Solangi said that the APNA Pakistan programme was launched to portray the rich culture and different colours of the country. He said Radio Pakistan was playing a vital role in providing information as well as entertainment to the people.
Mohtarma Zahida Kazmi, the first Pakistani woman taxi driver, Nigar Nazar, first woman cartoonist, Ali Moin Nawazish, who secured 22 As in 'A' level examination and Shehraam Changezi, Asian games bronze medialist in snooker, also participated in the programme and shared their experiences about successes in their respective fields.
