Met office has forecast cold and dry weather over most parts of the country on Monday (today) and predicted that there would be no rain during the next few days. However, dense foggy conditions are likely to continue over the plain areas of Punjab, central & lower Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh from midnight to morning.
In a special advisory, the met office said dense fog, after the recent wet spell, has enveloped most parts of Punjab and KP. Due to high concentration of moisture in the atmosphere and low temperature, foggy weather will continue for another 10 days in the plain areas of the country, especially Punjab.
It further added that intensity and duration of the fog is very likely to increase during the coming days in the plain areas. Dense fog in Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur divisions will persist daily for more than 12 hours (from mid-night to mid day), giving a short sunny window only in afternoon, during the coming days.
Meanwhile, due to prolonged foggy conditions and low sunshine, day temperature (maximum), in Punjab have already fallen to eight to 10°C from normal, and the same trend is expected to prevail. Minimum temperature -12 centigrade was recorded at Kalam, KP on Sunday. Persistent and prolonged fog has caused air and ground traffic to remain disrupted during the next 10 days. Met office has advised travellers to avail clear weather conditions during the afternoons.
