The torchbearer of Hazara 'province' movement, Baba Haider Zaman on Tuesday demanded of 20th constitutional amendment for creating more provinces. Speaking at a news conference here at National Press Club, he vowed that the movement would be continue until giving provincial status to Hazara Division and he also announced future course of action in this regard.
Baba Haider Zaman is leading the movement following NWFP got new name, as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa through 18th constitutional amendment. Currently he is also serving, as Chairman "central committee on creation of new provinces" for the formation of new provinces named Hazara, Potohar, Bahawalpur and Saraikistan.
He flayed politicians for their inability to convince the government to include the demand of new provinces in 19th amendment, recently passed by the National Assembly, adding that politicians belonging to Hazara division and Bahwalpur disappointed the masses of their respective constituencies for not raising the issue of creating more provinces.
According to him, it was unjustifiable that the 19th amendment was framed 'secretly' and was passed by the National Assembly by bulldozing the wills of the masses striving for creating more provinces in the country. He particularly criticised PML-N saying that its MNAs did not support the cause of giving a status of province to Hazara, as people will not reelect them, however, he lauded PML-Q's Kashmala Tariq for opposing 19th amendment bill.
He rejected the impression that the movement for creation of Haza 'province' has lost its momentum, saying that they were waiting for 19th amendment, as political parties had promised to address the issue in the amendment. Zaman said that they have launched a peaceful movement so that rulers could understand people's power, otherwise, rulers will be thrown out by the masses. Giving details of the public rallies, he said on January 10 a rally would be held in Haripur, on January 15 in Abbotabad and similarly in March a big rally would be held in Islamabad.
