A pile-up involving 14 cars and lorries on Charsadda-Peshawar motorway near Swat River caused by a bout of heavy fog killed two persons and injured dozens others. According to the police, the accident occurred six kilometer away from Charsadda. The injured and the dead have been shifted to the DHQ Hospital Charsadda and other Peshawar hospitals, private news channel reported.
Traffic on the Charsadda-Peshawar motorway was totally paralysed shortly after the fog fell and caused a series of accidents. "I couldn't see anything and didn't have a second to press the brake," said a driver, who suffered a head injury in the crash. While some blamed the fog for their misfortune, others questioned whether those who manage the highway should be held partly responsible for the accident. In other parts of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the freezing conditions and heavy snow is causing problems with major roads being forced to close.
