Foreign tour 'without intimation': petitioner seeks Taseer's removal from office
A petition has been moved in Lahore High Court, seeking removal of Governor Punjab, Salman Taseer from his office for going abroad without any intimation. The petitioner, a bar member Noshab A Khan contended that governor Punjab left Lahore on December 5 last through flight PK-303 for Karachi and from there, flied to Colombo by Sri Lankan Airline VL-189 the same evening. He returned to Karachi from Sri Lanka by VL-183 on December 8 and reached Lahore by PK-306 in the evening.
He said that Taseer's mysterious absence from his office for four days, without giving charge to the speaker of the Punjab Assembly, is a violation of article 104 of the constitution. Noshab prayed to the court to direct Prime Minister of Pakistan advice President of Pakistan remove the respondent governor.
