The 134th birth anniversary of the Father of Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was celebrated across the country on Saturday with renewed pledge to make the country a modern welfare state. A number of activities were arranged through out the country to highlight Quaid's guiding principle of "Unity, Faith and Discipline for promoting prosperity, peace and harmony in the country.
The day dawned with special prayers in country's mosques for progress and prosperity of Pakistan and departed soul of the Quaid-e-Azam. Various political, educational and social organisations organised special functions to pay homage to the Quaid-e-Azam, who created a separate state for Muslims of South Asia on August 14, 1947.
The day reminds about Quaid' historic struggle for a separate homeland for the Muslims of the sub-continent where every citizen could live according to his faith and dignity. The celebrations took place both at public and private levels by holding befitting functions to pay tributes to the father of the nation for his heroic struggle for an independent homeland. The main event was held at the Quaid's mausoleum in Karachi with the change of guard.
President Asif Ali Zardari visited the mausoleum of Father of the Nation Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, to pay homage to the Founder of Pakistan. He laid a wreath at his Mazar, offered Fateha and recorded his impressions in the Visitors' Book.The President was accompanied by Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan.
South Asia Publications (SAP) arranged a mega event of `Xxth Star Awards Ceremony and Annual Dinner' to mark Quaid anniversary. The students, educationists as well as other participants during `Quaid-e-Azam Session' paid glowing tributes to the struggle of the Quaid for acquiring a separate homeland for the Muslims where they can exercise their rights.
Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) and Ministry of Culture also arranged colourful cultural programmes to mark the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam on December 25. The programme include national songs, folk dances, spot painting, puppet show, exhibition and tableaus to highlight the efforts of Quaid during Pakistan Movement. While a movie show of film `Jinnah' will be screened at National Art Gallery.
Quaid-e-Azam was an `ambassador of Hindu-Muslim unity, a distinguished parliamentarian, a top-notch politician, an indefatigable freedom-fighter, a dynamic Muslim leader, a political strategist and, above all one of the great nation-builders of modern times. Quaid-e-Azam visioned Pakistan as democratic and impregnable welfare state where people could live with peace, love, fraternity and harmony.
The Quaid also desired that every citizen should have equal opportunities of education, health, progress and justice. The befitting way to pay tribute to Quaid-e- Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is to forge unity, work hard for the progress and prosperity of the country, following the golden principles of Quaid-e-Azam to overcome the challenges confronting by the country.
