Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) headed by Justice Maqbool Baqar on Thursday remanded three accused in custody of Pak Colony police in the Shershah scrap market carnage case. The police presented the accused Shafi Magsi, Nawaz and Pervez before the court, which allowed physical remand of the accused till January 1 with a plea by the prosecution for further investigation.
They were arrested by the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) in a Joint operation with the police from Lyari on Wednesday. Weapons were also recovered from the possession of the accused, it was further stated. It may be mentioned here that the Pak Colony police station on October 22 last registered a FIR bearing No 578/10 under section 302, 324/34, 7 Anti-Terrorist Act (ATA) against 17 accused including alleged Lyari gangster Baba Ladla and his accomplices. On October 19 over a dozen-armed man riding on motorcycles entered the Shershah scrap market and started indiscriminate firing, resulting in the deaths of at least 14 people on the spot.
