US MIDDAY: cocoa steadies

Published Updated

ICE cocoa futures were steady early on Wednesday as prices were supported by Ivory Coast unrest as an election dispute dragged on, raising concerns about future cocoa supplies from the world's top producer. Second-month cocoa futures on ICE were down $5 to $2,988 per tonne at 0927 GMT, below the four-month peak of $3,140 hit earlier this month.
ICE raw sugar pared gains, falling from the 30-year high of 33.65 cents a lb hit on Tuesday, as the market remained underpinned by tight supplies. ICE March raw sugar was down 0.42 cent or 1.3 percent at 32.61 cents a lb at 0924 GMT. ICE arabica coffee futures traded lower, easing back from the 13-1/2 year high hit on Tuesday, as tight supplies of high quality arabica supported the market. ICE March arabicas were down 0.85 cent or 0.4 percent at $2.33 per lb.
