One police personnel killed, while another injured during an encounter with drug peddlers in Dhok Charagdin area in the jurisdiction of Civil Line Police of Rawalpindi on Tuesday. Rawalpindi Police led by Sub-Inspector Arif raided a den of notorious drug pusher Imran alias Mani in Dhok Charagdin area, but the drug pushers resorted to indiscriminate firing on the police party and killed a constable Kamran and injured Waqas, Police sources said.
They said that Mani and his accomplices have managed to escape from the scene under the cover of heavy firing. The indiscriminate firing caused panic in the area and people took shelter in their houses to avoid any loss. Soon after the incident, Superintendent of Police (SP) Potohar Parvaiz Bandial, DSP and SHO Civil Lines along with heavy contingents of police rushed to the spot to take control of the area.
The SP Potohar Bandial confirmed the death of constable Kamran and injury of Waqas in the encounter. Waqas was rushed to the nearby hospital. He said that three special police teams were constituted and entire area was cordoned off to ensure the smugglers' arrest.
