The National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance is expected to meet on Wednesday to take up the matter of ''reformed general sales tax'' (RGST) after obtaining viewpoints of stakeholders, particularly the business and trade. It is learnt here that the meeting of the Committee would take place from Wednesday to start reading of the ''Reformed General Sales Tax Bill 2010''.
The committee members from opposition parties would also give their comments on the draft of the RGST Bill 2010. During last meeting of the committee, chambers, federations/trade bodies and representatives of textile, pharmaceutical, ginners and zero-rated sectors had opposed the RGST Bill 2010. It is important to mention here that some members of the committee had demanded removal of the committee''s chairperson, Fauzia Wahab. They had also submitted a letter to the NA Speaker.
