Former Pakistan Captain Javed Miandad Monday rated Indian prodigy Sachin Tendulkar as master batsman of his own class and said his bat speaks of his accomplishments. "He (Sachin) is a living example for batsmen to follow and everybody should learn from his dedication and determination," Miandad told APP in an interview while recording his reaction on Tendulkar's new land mark in the first Test against South Africa at Supersports Park Centurion.
The 37-year-old Sachin Tendular has scored 14,513 runs in 175 Test matches at an average of 56.91 per innings after making his debut against Pakistan at National Stadium in Karachi on November 15, 1989. Sachin has scored 17,589 runs at an average of 45.12 in 442 One-day Internationals.
Diminutive Sachin Tendular made an unbeaten 111 in India's second innings of 459. But despite his defiant hundred, India suffered an innings and 25 runs defeat in the first Test. "Sachin doesn't speak much in media but it is his willow that speaks for himself," Pakistan's highest run-getter with 8832 runs in 124 Test matches, said. It is a remarkable achievement by humble Sachin and everyone can learn from the way he batted on all kinds of surfaces across the world, Javed Miandad commented.
"Sachin's greatness reflected from his modesty and down to earth approach despite achieving so much in the sport," he remarked. "He (Sachin) is greatest batsman of this era. You can not compare him with anyone or with Sir Don Bradman. Statistics-wise Sachin is the best in the cricket history," he said.
"Whenever he was in Pakistan, Sachin always discussed cricket with me and asked my advise on different things on batting," he recalled. "Sachin's sincerity with cricket is his hallmark and his consistency is exemplary," he said. "Congratulations to Sachin and his followers across the globe", said Pakistan's legendary batsman.
