Power decentralisation in SU: deans urged to play role in academic matters
Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh, Professor Dr Nazir A. Mughal has said that he has decentralised powers and deans of the faculties, being the academic leaders, should now play their key role in the academic matters.
He was talking to academicians and botanists on the occasion of a luncheon party hosted by Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences, Dr Muhammad Tahir Rajput in honour of noted botanists Dr Ross Masood, Chairman of Department of Botany, University of the Punjab and Dr Riffat Iqbal, Professor of Botany, Forman Christen College University, Lahore.
Professor Dr Mughal said he has empowered deans to boost up academic activities, including research, in their respective faculties. He added that if the deans work hard and pay attention to academic matters with justice and without favouritism, they will hopefully get help from their academic friends.
The VC said new academic reforms will be implemented from the academic session 2011 but will definitely take time to get popular, adding this delay would be helpful to the varsity in terms of higher education and research. Eminent scientist Dr Shahnazwaz Arbani, heads of various institutes and departments of the science faculty, and members of syndicate.
