KCCI to contest KESC notices

Published December 10, 2011 Updated December 10, 2011 02:48pm

imabnmKARACHI: The entire leadership of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has vehemently criticised the notices served by Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) to KCCI president Mian Abrar and former president Siraj Kassam Teli and said that they will contest the case.

In a joint statement released by KCCI here on Saturday, past presidents Tahir Khaliq, Zubair Motiwala, Haroon Farooki and Anjum Nisar and all managing committee members of KCCI said that the notices are, in fact, notices to the entire business and industrial community of Karachi.

They alleged that since last one quarter owing to industrial load-shedding by KESC, the industries in the seven industrial zones of Karachi are facing unprecedented production losses of billion of rupees everyday.

KCCI along with its affiliate seven industrial town associations of Karachi being the economic engine of the country and contributors of about 68 percent of revenue to the government exchequer decided to take joint action to resolve the uncalled for industrial load-shedding.

They said that all the statements and press releases issued by this leadership were with total consensus and approval of the entire business and industrial community of Karachi.

"We all stand behind our leadership for all their acts and behaviours and we will fight and contest our case in the largest interest of the Karachi city and the business and industrial community.
