BERLIN: USA international Timothy Chandler is set for a long spell on the sidelines after tearing cartilage in his right knee and will undergo surgery, his club Eintracht Frankfurt revealed Sunday.

The 27-year-old had to be helped off in obvious distress after landing awkwardly in the first-half of Frankfurt's 2-2 draw at home to Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund on Saturday with no opponent near him.

Chandler played in all of Frankfurt's nine Bundesliga games so far this season until injury struck.

He will now undergo surgery, which Eintracht say will determine how long he will be sidelined for.
