HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks opened flat on Monday as investors waited for news from debt-hit Europe, where the leaders of Germany and France were set to meet to hammer out details of a plan to save the euro.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index was up just 11.23 points, or 0.06 percent, to 19,051.62 in early trading.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy are due to meet later Monday. European Union summit talks are planned for Thursday and Friday.
