Federal Minister for Minorities Affairs Shahbaz Bhatti has said that under the directives of Prime Minister "District Interfaith Harmony Committees" were being established at district level throughout the country. The process of these committees would be completed in a short span of time, he said.
Talking to Business Recorder here on Saturday night, he said the steps were being taken for promoting harmony, unity and brotherhood among the masses belonging to different caste and creeds in the country.
The Federal Minister further stated that dialogues would soon be started with Ulema, religious scholars of all sects, political parties and human rights organisations for developing consensus on religious tolerance, promotion unity among all caste and creeds especially majority and minorities living in the country.
Expressing the confidence, he said that process of dialogues would pave the way in stamping out the violation in the society. Shahbaz Bhatti further stated that anti-state elements were trying hard to destabilise the government through their nefarious designs but government will not allow any body to disrupt the peace and harmony of the country for the personal gains.
The Federal Minister called upon the masses that they should forge complete unity among the ranks to foil the activities of anti-state elements and terrorism from the country. Some hidden hands were busy in creating breaches among the minorities just to create chaos and destabilising the country just for their personal gains, he cautioned.
The present government has accorded its extra-ordinary attention on developing tolerance, brotherhood and unity among all the sects and religion of the society. Shahbaz Bhatti further said that we should demonstrate complete unity for elimination of extremism and terrorism from grassroots for converting the country into a peace heaven.
Earlier, addressing a Christmas dinner the Federal Minister stressed upon the Christian community that they should focus attention on the development and prosperity of the country. The present government was making adequate efforts for resolving the problems confronted by the minorities on top priority basis, he said.
