Political, religious and social circles have condemned strongly the killing of leading religious scholar Dr Sarfraz Naeemi, Principal Jamia Naeemia and others in a terrorist attack and called for foolproof security arrangements ahead. Leading markets in the city shutdown after the blast at Jamia Naeemia and angry students of Jamia Naeemia demonstrated to protest against the killing of Dr Sarfraz Naeemi.
On the occasion, Scuffle also took place between the students of Jamia Naeemia and police. The City administration called the Rangers to maintain the law and order situation in the city. Timely updates on the incident invited massive panic among the citizens at large and they kept on calling each to inquire about safety.
Religious leaders visited Jamia Naeemia to condole with the son of late Mufti Naeemi. An announcement of complete shutterdown strike was also made by the religious leadership of the town to express solidarity with the family and students of Mufti Naeemi. The business leaders including PIAF Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, Vice Chairmen Khawaja Shahzeb Akram and Iqbal Baig Chughtai have strongly condemned the bomb blast that claimed lives of Dr Sarfraz Naeemi and others.
They were of the view that the blast in congested area of the city is a failure of the security agencies. They said that special measures are needed to cope with deteriorating law and order situation, as anti-social elements are hell-bent to destabilise Pakistan for their ulterior motives.
They said the government should find out the root causes of all such incidents. The blast will not only tarnish the image of the country but would also dent the economy of Pakistan. The leadership of almost all the political and religious parties have vehemently condemned the suicide blast in Lahore.
Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Salman Taseer, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Munawar Hasan, Sahibzada Fazal Karim and Imran Khan, strongly denounced the suicide attack in Lahore. They said the perpetrators of the heinous crime must be brought to justice.
Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami Munawwar Hassan also condemned the killing of Mufti Naeemi and criticised the US role in Pakistan. President Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan Sahibzada Fazal Karim said the government should provide the security to the Ulema and religious scholars.
Chaudhry Shujaat Hussein and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi have expressed grief and sorrow over killing of innocent people including Dr Sarfraz Naeemi as a result of blast at Jamia Naeemia. They also prayed for recovery of injured persons.
They urged the government to adopt foolproof security arrangements for those leaders who had some threats. They also described death of Dr Sarfraz Naeemi as an irreparable loss. The PML-Q leaders also condemned the death of Maulana Amin and others in bombing at Hangu. They said that bombing on US information is unacceptable.
