Badar Munir, a renowned Pushto and Urdu film actor has passed away early on Saturday in Lahore. He was 68. Munir, a cardiac patient for the last four years, was brought to a private hospital with complaint of chest pain in Lahore two days back, where breathed his last today, a private TV channel reported.
Late actor was the legend in Pashto Cinema's history dominated Pakistani film industry for almost 35 years. He was born in Swat and belonged to Miankhel tribe. He made his debut in Pushto film, Yousuf Khan Sher Bano, released in 1970, which proved a big hit. His first film `Dulhan Aik Rat Ki' also set several new records.
Late Badar also acted in 416 Pushto and Urdu films. The Swat-born actor started his professional life as a rickshaw driver in Karachi before joining film industry. Later Chocolate hero Wahid Murad employed him in his office from where he started his film career.
