A blast on a railway track derailed a goods train that was heading to Taftan near the border with Iran, official said on Saturday. In another incident an explosion blew up a gas pipeline in Quetta, suspending gas supply to several areas.
Railway officials said that six apartments of the Taftan-bound goods train were derailed near the city of Nushki. The blast also caused damage to engine. The train was carrying rice and potato for Iran, officials said.
No one was hurt in the blast. However, it damaged the railway track. In another incident unidentified men blew up a gas pipeline near Quetta, officials said. The pipeline was supplying gas to the main cities Qalat, Masrung, Pishin as well as a powerhouse, General Manager Sui Southern Gas Pipeline Mushtaq Siddiqi said.
He said the blast suspended gas supply to several areas adding that repair work on the damaged pipeline was started after the blast report. Beebrag Baloch, a purported spokesman for the banned group Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility of the blast over telephone to reporters in Quetta.
