Rainstorm and heavy rains have created havoc in the port city of Karachi. Despite the fact that we all know about the damages of rains and floods, the city government did not take sufficient preventive steps.
Falling of the signboards and several trees on the streets and roads caused the death of nearly 200 people and damaged rural areas of the country. According to a report at least 4,000 people had been evacuated from coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan by 26 June. Thank God, the army, navy and paramilitary forces were alert to tackle the situation.
Despite these measures, 14 cyclone-related deaths were reported in Balochistan by 26 June, 2007. It is the city government's duty to take urgent measures to save the people from disasters. More important thing is that the people should also follow weather forecast reports.
