US lawmakers have demanded direct access to Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan claiming that Dr A Q Khan's nuclear proliferation network is still functioning and can not be shut without his co-operation, according to a private TV channel here on Wednesday.
A meeting of the Congress foreign affairs sub-committee was held in Washington where US lawmakers demanded direct access to Dr A Q Khan to investigate about his network. A US lawmaker representing Democratic Party demanded that Pakistan should hand over Dr A Q Khan to US for investigation of his network.
US lawmakers also demanded that Pakistan nuclear installations should be open for international inspections. It is worth mentioning here that this is the first time that US lawmakers have demanded Pakistan government for handing over of DR A Q Khan.
