Lawyers observe token strike

The lawyers observed token strike here in the metropolis in protest against the suspension of Chief Justice of Pakistan and did not appear before the courts for one hour. The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), Lahore Bar and Adliya Bachao Committee (ABC) held hunger-strike camps in the bar premises.
The senior bar members, bars office-bearers, political party workers, human rights activists and members of other civil society organisations joined these camps. The political workers and human rights activists expressed solidarity with lawyers and assured them to continue their support in the struggle for independence of judiciary and revival of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
