Ukraine increased its grain exports through Black Sea ports to 205,620 tonnes in June 1 to 12 from 97,620 in the same period in May, analysts said on Monday. Kiev-based ProAgro agriculture consultancy quoted data from ports as showing Ukraine exported 15,000 tonnes of wheat, 143,550 of barley and 47,060 of maize so far this month.
The country sold abroad 33,450 tonnes of barley, 59,250 of maize and had no wheat exports in the same period in May. Ukraine, which harvested 34.25 million tonnes of grain in 2006, is likely to export up to 9.0 million tonnes in 2006/07 compared with 13.6 million in 2005/06 due to export restrictions imposed by the government earlier this season.
